  • How do I get from the airport to Gitano House?
    We can arrange for a taxi to pick you up on arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport (Katunayake). Alternatively there are plenty taxi's on arrival. You can take the taxi direct to Gitano House via the highway and duration will be approximately 2hrs 20mins.
  • Do I need a Covid test to enter Sri Lanka?

  • Is it safe to travel to Sri Lanka right now?
    Yes Sri Lanka is safe! We have some of the friendliest people, and despite difficult economic conditions and occasional political instability we are resilient and are always happy to welcome visitors and share the wonders of the country. It has been absolutely safe for tourists to visit as any incidents reported on mainstream media is isolated and generally doesn't affect tourist areas. There is plenty fuel to go around now, and power cuts are scarce. Visit us and see for yourself, we are sure you won't regret it.

  • Is breakfast included?
    Breakfast is not included in the booking price. However, we do have breakfast on request. To ensure minimum wastage and to maintain sustainable operation we ask our guests if they would like breakfast as an option the night before. It's a must try, trust!
  • What kind of food do we offer?
    We offer a fusion breakfast made with fresh, organic, locally sourced ingredients made with love & care. For lunch we offer traditional Sri Lankan meals made by our very own Mrs Maala, whose traditional rice and curry is arguably the best in the south!
  • Do the rooms have AC?
    We focus on being an eco-friendly sustainable property. Our rooms are well designed to keep it cool even on the hottest of days in the tropics. We also have ceiling fans hence a constant breeze while you rest is guaranteed.
  • Do we offer surf lessons?
    Yes we can offer to arrange for surf lessons at one of the best surf breaks on the south coast. Kabalana beach break and south beach is 5mins walk from the property and is ideal for all levels of surfers.
  • Do we offer Yoga classes?
    Yes we do! Our beautiful rooftop Yoga Shala can host upon 15-20 people. Visit us and sign up for our serene yoga experience nestled amongst the lush forest cover.
  • What time is the check-in and check-out?
    We adhere to a standard check-out time at 11.00am and check-in at 2.00pm. However we are super flexible in this regard and are happy to accommodate any convenient time for our guests depending on availability at no extra cost.
  • Can I store my surfboard at Gitano House?
    Yes you can! We have a surf rack custom built to whole all sizes of boards.

  • Which cities are around Kabalana?
    Ahangama, Weligama, Unawatuna, Mirissa and Galle.
  • Where is Kabalana located?
    Kabalana is 2km before the bustling city of Ahangama. During the season the beaches are beautiful and the water so pristine. A surfer's haven, Kabalana offers some of the best surf breaks on the south coast. Additionally there are plenty of amazing sites to see; turtle hatcheries, stilt fisherman, secret beaches (we'd be happy to show you) and beautiful forest covers further inland such as the Koggala lake. Last but not least the people of the area are amazing and friendly and the local cuisine is a must try!

  • How much does it cost to rent a scooter?
    We can arrange scooter rentals ranging from 1000-2000 per day. An ideal way to explore the surrounding areas and take your occasional sunset ride.
  • What are the prices of tuktuks?
    We can arrange a Tuk Tuk ride to and from the property. There are also plenty tuk tuks available for hire, the standard charges are Rs. 120 for the first 1km and thereafter Rs. 100 per every KM.
